Group play in the 2020-21 EuroLeague Women season is nearly complete. Seven of the eight playoff teams have already been determined, with the second and final playoff berth in Group A yet to be decided.

It all comes down to two games this week. Turkish club Izmit Belediyespor, which arrived late to the Salamanca EuroLeague Women bubble, will take on Russian clubs Nadezhda and Dynamo Kursk on Tuesday, Feb. 16 and Thursday, Feb. 18, respectively, to determine which of the three teams will join Perfumerias Avenida as a Group A playoff representative.

Both Kursk and Nadezhda currently sit at 2-3, though Kursk’s cumulative point differential of +1 far exceeds Nadezhda’s of -102. Izmit Belediyespor, meanwhile, has yet to win a game in group play, sitting at 0-4.

As explained by FIBA’s website, Kursk has the best chance of coming away with the playoff spot, needing only to defeat Izmit Belediyespor on Thursday to advance. Nadezhda can go to the playoffs if it beats Izmit Belediyespor on Tuesday and Kursk loses on Thursday, while Izmit Belediyespor’s only hope is to win both of this week’s games by a large enough margin to advance by way of three-way tiebreaker.

While there is a clear favorite in this scenario (Kursk), it’s still a good example of how fun the tail end of EuroLeague Women group play tends to be — especially with a shrunken schedule like this season’s. As always, you’ll be able to catch the action live and for free on FIBA’s YouTube channel.

Tuesday, Feb. 16

Nadezhda vs. Izmit Belediyespor

When: 9 a.m. ET

How to watch: FIBA YouTube live stream

Notable players: Monique Billings, Anastasia Logunova, Elīna Dikaioulaku, Ksenia Tikhonenko (Nadezhda); Erica Wheeler, Clarissa dos Santos, Milica Jovanović (Izmit Belediyespor)

Reason to tune in: January’s game between these two teams was a very close one, which should give Izmit Belediyespor confidence heading into the rematch. We’ll see if it comes down to a free throw contest like it did last time; regardless, don’t let the team records fool you, because both of these clubs seem to be evenly matched.

Thursday, Feb. 18

Dynamo Kursk vs. Izmit Belediyespor

When: 10 a.m. ET

How to watch: FIBA YouTube live stream

Notable players: Arike Ogunbowale, Stephanie Mavunga, Alex Bentley, Raina Musina (Dynamo Kursk); Erica Wheeler, Clarissa dos Santos, Milica Jovanović (Izmit Belediyespor)

Reason to tune in: Win and you’re in — that’s the story for Kursk. As fate would have it, they have a player who is pretty good in such scenarios in Ogunbowale. She came up big in the clutch as Kursk squeaked past Izmit Belediyespor in January, although the Russian club would gladly take a more comfortable victory this time around.
