He lifted the Greek Cup trophy four times and led Olympiacos to the Intercontinental Cup crown in 2013, a year in which he received the Giuseppe Sciacca International Award for Sport, becoming the Vatican’s World Athlete of the Year. Spanoulis was also a member of the 2010-20 EuroLeague All-Decade team and was also successful with the Greek national team. He helped Greece win a gold medal at EuroBasket 2005, a silver one at the 2006 World Cup and a bronze one at EuroBasket 2009. The announcement came exactly 10 years after he signed his first contract with Olympiacos on July 11, 2010.
